Vinted selling fees, explained

Money5 min readUpdated

Selling on Vinted is free for personal accounts. There is no listing fee and no commission — if you list an item at £20 and it sells, £20 reaches your Vinted Balance. The buyer pays the Buyer Protection fee and the postage on top of your asking price.

The only money a personal seller spends is optional promotion: bumping and wardrobe spotlight. Pro accounts are different and do pay commission.

What sellers pay: nothing, by default

Vinted's model puts the transaction cost on the buyer. That is unusual among resale marketplaces and it is the main reason sellers migrate to it from platforms that take 10-20% of every sale.

For a personal account there is no listing fee, no final value fee, no payout fee for standard withdrawals to a bank account.

What the buyer pays

The buyer pays your asking price, plus the Buyer Protection fee, plus postage. Buyer Protection covers them if the item never arrives or is significantly not as described.

This matters for pricing psychology: the number the buyer sees at checkout is meaningfully higher than your asking price. Pricing an item at £18 rather than £20 can move it below a threshold the buyer has in mind once the extras are added.

Optional costs

The only things a personal seller can spend money on are promotional.

  • Bump — pushes one listing back up search results for about three days
  • Wardrobe spotlight — promotes your whole closet for a set period
  • Both are optional and neither is required to sell

Where Pro accounts differ

Vinted Pro accounts, intended for business sellers, do pay commission on sales. They also carry consumer-law obligations such as statutory returns that personal sellers do not owe.

If you are buying stock to resell, you are generally required to be a Pro seller, and the fee structure follows from that.

Getting your money out

Sale proceeds land in your Vinted Balance once the buyer confirms the item arrived as described, or after the confirmation window elapses. From there you withdraw to a verified bank account.

Verify payout details before your first sale rather than after — an unverified account is the usual reason a first withdrawal is delayed.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to sell on Vinted?

Yes, for personal accounts. There is no listing fee and no commission on sales. The buyer pays the Buyer Protection fee and postage on top of your asking price.

Does Vinted take a cut of my sales?

Not on a personal account — you receive your full asking price. Vinted Pro business accounts do pay commission on sales.

What is the Buyer Protection fee on Vinted?

A fee paid by the buyer, not the seller, which covers them if an item does not arrive or is significantly not as described. It is added at checkout on top of your asking price.

How much does it cost to bump an item on Vinted?

Bump pricing varies by market and is charged per item, typically under a pound or euro for around three days of promotion. Vinted frequently discounts multi-item bundles.
